Director's Update November 13

Good afternoon,
It has been an incredibly busy albeit abbreviated week here at Northwest Illinois Economic Development. This week we have:Researched community investment programs
  • Spoke with the Jo Daviess County Ad Hoc Economic Development Committee – cancelled due to lack of quorum
  • Hosted a practice zoom meeting for next week’s Chamber Networking Event
  • Presented NWILED services and financing options to Illinois Bank and Trust
  • Hosted the Galena Downtown Business Association meeting on Zoom
  • Met with the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) about some potential workshops for 2021
  • Attended the SBDC quarterly advisory meeting
  • Attended the Manufacturing Apprenticeship Call with BEST, Inc
  • Attended a ribbon cutting for Big Miniature Farms in Mount Carroll
  • Outlined workshops for 2021 for the Business Education Network, bankers, and others in the region
  • Spoke to Brandon Behlke at the Galena Gazette about the Cornbelt Ports Designation
  • Checked in with former board member John Cooke, who is doing well despite the crisis
Next week we anticipate
  • Meeting with Jeff from the Illinois Manufacturing Excellence Center
  • Meeting with Partners regarding local foods
  • Attending monthly meetings with

  • Attending the Jo Daviess County Budget meeting
  • Working on the NWILED Budget
  • Discussing the Early Childhood Learning Center with the Jo Daviess County CTE Academy
  • Attending the Jo Daviess County Planning and Development Committee to discuss CPACE
  • Meeting with Pam at the SBDC to discuss a workshop
  • Meeting with the Jo Daviess county subcommittee regarding quality of life
  • Listening to the Dallas Fed conference on energy and the economy
  • Finalizing details for the Business Education Network
  • Working on the 2021 work plan
