Director's Update - October 9, 2020
Good afternoon everyone,It’s been a busy week here at NW Illinois Economic Development, and a constructive one as we prepare for a board meeting next week. This week NWILED staff have:
- Followed up regarding a potential grant process
- Followed up with a potential expansion project
- Presented our funding request to the Local Redevelopment Authority and had it approved by the board
- Followed up with Dura Automotive regarding their plant in Stockton
- Hosted tech check and counseling for Build It Grow It
- Met with an area employer regarding a potential apprenticeship program
Attended the IEDC Young Professionals Call - Started drafting the NWILED work plan for 2021.
- Rearranged our office to make it more functional.
- Prepared for the NWILED Board meeting
- Followed up with Sean Park at Western Illinois University regarding a potential investment project
- Helped the Stockton Chamber of Commerce canvas for fiber internet in our opportunity zone
- Attended the Galena Chamber After Hours
- Met with a client regarding her Build It Grow It pitch
- Met with a potential collaborator from Rockford
- Met with the Head of the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity’s Regional Economic Development Team
