Director's Update - September 11, 2020

Good morning everyone,
It's been a rainy week here at NWILED, one of those where you just want to curl up inside with a good book and a cup of hot coffee (or wine if that's what you prefer). Nevertheless, we've kept busy. This week's tasks included
  • Meeting with a potential client interested in locating in the area
  • Getting trained on apprenticeship programs for a new grant we're working on with Business Employment Skills Team (BEST, Inc)
  • Hosting the Galena Downtown Business Association meeting
  • Meeting with Kim Ewoldsen at the Small Business Development Center
  • Planning our membership drive
  • Calling into the Jo Daviess County Board Meeting
  • Working on a relocation packet for individuals relocating to the tri-county area
  • Hosting Build It Grow It Counseling via Zoom
  • Working on plans for our replacement for Build It Grow It
Other highlights included
  • Seeing our press release on the three goals in the papers this week - you can find it on our blog page here
  • Training our new Program Coordinator on the ins and outs of our communications

What we're watching

  • COVID-19 cases continue to rise in our area, with Jo Daviess County hitting 200 confirmed cases and Carroll County confirming more than 150
  • Jo Daviess County saw one of the largest months for deed transfers since May 2006 in August, showing one of the tightest home sales markets in over a decade
